Massive Central Subsidies for Installing Rooftop Solar.
The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a central government initiative designed to make residential solar highly affordable. It provides a direct, fixed subsidy of up to ₹85,800 to offset your installation costs, significantly lowering the barrier to clean energy.
Slash Your Electricity Bill to Near Zero.
By installing a grid-connected system, you essentially become your own power producer. The electricity you generate powers your home, and any excess is fed back into the MSPDCL grid, drastically reducing – or entirely eliminating – your monthly electricity expenses.
Are you eligible for the PM Surya Ghar scheme?
Subsidy is strictly for Residential Consumers
To qualify for the PM Surya Ghar subsidy, you must have an active, domestic (residential) electricity connection with MSPDCL. Your electricity bill must reflect a residential tariff category.
Note: Commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings do not qualify for this specific central subsidy. However, if you run a business, Eartheners can still design and install a highly profitable, non-subsidized commercial system for you.
Shadow-Free Space is Essential
Solar panels need direct sunlight to generate power efficiently. You must have a clear, shadow-free rooftop area. It should not be blocked by tall trees, water tanks, or neighboring high-rise buildings.
-
Space Requirement: As a general rule of thumb, you will need approximately 100 square feet of clear roof space for every 1kW of solar capacity installed.
-
Roof Type: We can safely install on both flat RCC (concrete) roofs and slanted Tin roofs using specialized mounting structures. You must also have legal ownership of the roof or formal permission from the owner.
Matching Your Solar to Your Grid Limits
Your proposed solar system capacity cannot exceed your current “Sanctioned Load” limit, which is printed on your MSPDCL electricity bill. For example, if you want a 5kW solar system, your sanctioned load must be at least 5kW.
-
Need an upgrade? Don’t worry if your current load is too low. As part of our end-to-end service, Eartheners will assist you with the official MSPDCL load enhancement process before we begin your solar application.
Preventing Subsidy Rejections
This is the most common reason applications get delayed. The name on your MSPDCL electricity bill MUST exactly match the name on the bank account you plan to use to receive the subsidy, as well as your Aadhaar card. Even small spelling discrepancies can cause the national portal to reject the direct bank transfer. If there is a mismatch, the Eartheners team will guide you on how to formally correct your utility bill details before we apply.
Receiving Your Funds
The ₹85,500 central subsidy is paid via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Therefore, you must possess a valid, active bank account in your name. Crucially, this bank account must be officially linked to your Aadhaar card to successfully receive the funds from the government portal once the system is commissioned.
One Subsidy Per Household
The PM Surya Ghar scheme is designed to help new households transition to solar. To be eligible, you (and the specific residential property/electricity connection) must not have previously availed of any other central or state government subsidy for solar panels.
