The Scheme

Massive Central Subsidies for Installing Rooftop Solar

The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a central government initiative designed to make residential solar highly affordable, providing a direct, fixed subsidy of ₹85,800 for systems of 3 kW and above.

By installing a grid-connected system, you become your own power producer — the electricity you generate powers your home, and excess feeds back into the MSPDCL grid, drastically reducing or eliminating your monthly bill.

Eligibility

Are You Eligible for the PM Surya Ghar Scheme?

Domestic MSPDCL Connection

Subsidy is strictly for residential consumers. You must have an active, domestic (residential) electricity connection with MSPDCL. Commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings do not qualify for this specific central subsidy — though Eartheners can still design a profitable, non-subsidized commercial system.

Adequate Roof Space

You need a clear, shadow-free rooftop area — roughly 100 sq. ft. per 1kW of capacity. We install safely on both flat RCC and slanted tin roofs. You must have legal ownership of the roof or formal permission from the owner.

Sanctioned Load Limit

Your proposed solar capacity cannot exceed your current sanctioned load (printed on your MSPDCL bill). If your load is too low, Eartheners handles the official load-enhancement process for you.

The Identity Match (Critical)

The name on your MSPDCL bill must exactly match the name on your bank account and Aadhaar card. Even small spelling mismatches can cause the national portal to reject the subsidy transfer — our team helps correct this before applying.

Aadhaar-Linked Bank Account

The subsidy is paid via Direct Benefit Transfer. You need a valid bank account, officially linked to your Aadhaar, to receive the funds once the system is commissioned.

First-Time Subsidy Claim

The scheme is for households that have not previously availed any central or state solar subsidy on the same connection.

How It Works

Eartheners Handles the Entire Process, End-to-End

1

Site Assessment & Identity Alignment

Our technical team conducts a free physical assessment, checks shadow-free roof space, and evaluates your MSPDCL load. We cross-check documents for the "Identity Match" and handle any name correction or load upgrade needed.

2

System Sizing & Official Approvals

We identify the right system size and mounting structure, then submit your formal application through the national PM Surya Ghar platform, securing feasibility approvals, NOCs, and MSPDCL coordination on your behalf.

3

Bank Loan Facilitation

For customers financing their system, we compile the technical documentation and guide you through the application with nationalized and rural banks under the scheme.

4

Quality Installation & Commissioning

Our in-house technical team executes a quality-controlled installation with high-efficiency materials and strict safety compliance, then facilitates Net Meter activation.

5

Subsidy Disbursal & Lifetime Support

We track your application until the subsidy is credited to your bank account, and our local Imphal team remains on standby for ongoing maintenance.

Disclaimer: final loan approval is at the sole discretion of the bank and the respective branch manager, subject to meeting the bank's credit criteria and scheme guidelines.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the entire installation and subsidy process take?

Once your application is approved by MSPDCL, physical installation typically takes just a few days. After net meter commissioning, the central government usually credits the subsidy within two months, and often sooner.

What if I want to install solar for my shop, clinic, or commercial building?

The PM Surya Ghar subsidy is strictly residential. Eartheners regularly designs and installs profitable solar systems for commercial spaces — you won’t get this specific subsidy, but the electricity savings make it an excellent investment.

Will the solar system generate power during an MSPDCL power cut?

It depends on which system you choose — and both are available with the PM Surya Ghar subsidy. An On-Grid system shuts down during a grid outage, for the safety of anyone working on the line, so it gives you no power during a cut. A Hybrid system adds a battery and keeps your essential loads running through the outage. We install both under the scheme, so tell us how often your area loses supply and we will recommend the right one.

Will installing solar panels damage my roof or cause leaks?

No. Whether RCC or tin roof, we use specialized, weather-proof mounting structures designed for your roof type, ensuring structural integrity without leaks or damage.

Do I need to clean or maintain the panels regularly?

Solar panels are low-maintenance — rinsing every few weeks to remove dust is usually enough. Our local team is always a call away for servicing.
